The Department of Community Relations addresses the relations between the student body and the residents of the Michiana area as it works to build a lasting relationship between the two groups. This department will serve as a liaison between students and the South Bend community while working to ensure that the Notre Dame student body plays an active role in community life.
Past initiatives include Taste of South Bend, a Community Summit, CommUniversity Day, and bringing a Farmer’s Market to campus.
This year, the department will focus on deepening our relationship with the Office of the Mayor of South Bend and on revitalizing off campus transportation services. The department will also continue focusing on student safety, improvements to Eddy Street Commons, updating the Good Neighbor Guides, expanding Student Legal Services, and continuing our efforts with CommUniversity Day.
